Green-Amber Eyers
Red Liver Nose
Ginger Merah is not at increased risk for the genetic health conditions that Embark tests. She is clear of genetic conditions risk for breeding.
ALT Activity
Ginger inherited one copy of the variant tested. This is not a condition or a genetic issue. Ginger has one copy of a variant associated with reduced ALT activity as measured on veterinary blood chemistry panels. ALT is often used as an indicator of liver health and Ginger is likely to have a lower than average resting (good) ALT activity. As such, an increase in Ginger’s ALT activity could be evidence of liver damage, even if it is within normal limits by standard ALT reference ranges. Thefore, it is important to inform Ginger's veterinary about this result when blood test are performed to ensure that if an increase in ATL that is within refernece ranges does not go unnoticed. Ginger could pass this variant to approximately 50% of his offsprings (puppies).
Lower-than-average baseline ALT activity is typically not a reason to remove a dog from a breeding program.
